Fascial Stretch Therapy

Physical Therapy Associates is excited to introduce a new service called Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST). FST is a therapeutic approach aimed at improving flexibility, mobility, and reducing pain and discomfort in the body by targeting the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints. FST can be used in conjunction with other therapies, such as physical therapy and massage therapy, to achieve comprehensive results.

How does FST work?

FST is a form of manual therapy that involves a therapist gently stretching and manipulating the fascia to improve its elasticity and function. Fascia is a connective tissue that forms a three-dimensional web throughout the body. It surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can lead to pain, reduced range of motion, and other musculoskeletal issues.

During an FST session, a trained therapist uses a combination of assisted stretching and movements to target specific areas of the body. This helps to release tension in the fascia, allowing for improved flexibility and mobility. Listed below are just some benefits associated with FST:

  • Improved Flexibility: Increase the range of motion in joints and muscles.

  • Pain Relief: It can alleviate chronic pain, especially in conditions related to musculoskeletal imbalances.

  • Enhanced Athletic Performance: Athletes often use FST to improve their overall performance and reduce the risk of injuries.

  • Stress Reduction: FST sessions can promote relaxation and reduce stress.

  • Better Posture: It may assist in correcting posture issues caused by tight fascia.

Who Can Benefit?

FST is suitable for people of all fitness levels and ages. It can be particularly helpful for athletes, individuals with chronic pain, and those seeking to improve their overall physical well-being.

It's crucial to seek FST from a certified and trained therapist who understands the anatomy and techniques involved in the therapy.
